NECKLACE SIZE GUIDE

HOW TO STYLE

Camla’s necklaces are available in a variety of lengths and adjustable options for an optimal fit. This means you can choose the ideal length for you or the person you're buying for without any hesitation. For necklaces that don’t have the adjustable feature or if you’re unsure of the ideal necklace length to purchase, you can order our chain extenders to make it variable.

This guide can help you estimate the necklace length that is most suitable whether it’s for you or someone else. However, please take into consideration height, neck size and body type when making your selection to find the ideal length and achieve the desired style and look. It’s also worth noting that a pendant hanging from a chain will pull it lower and make it look slightly longer.

For the average build person with a height between 5’4” to 5’7”, these are the standard lengths:

  • 14” - fits tightly around the neck like a choker.
  • 16” - rests just below the collarbone, considered a standard shorter length.
  • 18” - sits mostly in the middle of the chest, considered the most common average length and the best option for a gift.
  • 20” - fits between mid chest and the bust, a few inches below the collarbone and allows a little more breathing room.
  • 24” - falls below most necklines around the cleavage. Perfect for a low, plunging neckline or if you want to wear it over a higher neckline.
  • 30” plus - anything beyond this length is considered long and offers versatility. They hang below the bust and can slip over the head. It can be worn as a single strand or doubled over.

HOW TO MEASURE

  • Measure An Existing Necklace: Use a necklace you already own with the desired length, lay it flat on a ruler and measure in inches the ends of the clasp and loop to determine the size.
  • Use A String To Find The Desired Length: Simply wrap a measuring tape or a string around the neck and mark the point in the front where you want your necklace to fall. If using a string, lay it flat on a ruler to measure the total length in inches.

HOW TO FIND THE IDEAL LENGTHS FOR LAYERING NECKLACES

The ideal way of layering necklaces or chains is to have at least a 2-inch length difference between them. This will make them hang at least one-inch higher or lower between the pieces. Keep in mind the size of the pendant as well. If you have a longer pendant that is over an inch long, you may want to shorten the chain by at least an inch or choose a longer layer below the pendant necklace.
