SUSTAINABILITY
At Camla, we make a conscious effort to create designs from recycled and ethically sourced metals, gemstones, and materials to minimize environmental impacts.
- Recycled metals: We prioritize the use of recycled gold and silver precious metals from our trusted suppliers and also recycle all of our scrap metals with certified refineries to help reduce the need for new mining.
- Natural stones: We use natural stones that are ethically sourced and free from conflict and exploitation.
- Lab-created diamonds: We prefer to use lab-created alternatives to diamonds, such as Moissanite and cubic zirconia, due to the many benefits they offer, including being more affordable, high quality, sustainable, and ethical than natural diamonds.
- Eco-Friendly Packaging: We use sustainable packaging solutions, including recycled paper, reusable fabric pouches, biodegradable options, or minimal packaging, to reduce packaging waste.
- Sustainable Displays: We incorporate sustainable jewelry display practices like using recycled materials (wood, plastic, or metal) for our display structure, and opting for energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce our carbon footprint. We choose simple, functional designs that require less material and can be easily disassembled for reuse.
- Long-lasting jewelry: We design pieces that are high-quality and will last a long time because this approach minimizes waste by encouraging our customers to wear the jewelry for a longer period of time, reducing the need for frequent replacements and new purchases, thereby lowering the overall environmental impact of jewelry production.
- Small-batch production: We focus on hand making our jewelry using traditional metalsmithing skills and techniques to produce items on a small scale, resulting in limited quantities for each piece and very little waste involved. It allows us to maintain a sustainable business with a small footprint; and create designs with high quality and authenticity.
